You can be reading your first forensic report within five minutes. This guide walks you through creating an account, choosing how to access Rhetoric Audit (Chrome extension or web dashboard), running an analysis, and understanding what you get back.
Every new account receives 10 free analysis credits on signup — no credit card required. Credits do not expire.
1

Create your free account

Go to rhetoricaudit.com/auth/sign-up. Enter your email and a password, or click Continue with Google to sign up in one step. After submitting the email/password form, Rhetoric Audit sends a confirmation email to the address you provided.
2

Verify your email

Open the confirmation email from Rhetoric Audit and click the verification link. This activates your account and credits your 10 free analyses. You are redirected to your dashboard automatically.
If the email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. The sender address is from rhetoricaudit.com.
3

Choose your access method

You have two ways to analyze articles. Use either or both — they share the same account and credit balance.Option A — Chrome extension (recommended for browsing)Install the Rhetoric Audit Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, click the extension icon on any open article page to trigger an analysis inline. The extension uses Manifest V3 and requires no API key configuration.See Chrome Extension for a full setup walkthrough.Option B — Web dashboardNavigate to rhetoricaudit.com/analysis in any browser. Paste a URL or article text directly into the dashboard to run an analysis without installing anything.
4

Run your first analysis

Open any news article you want to evaluate. Then:
  • Extension: Click the Rhetoric Audit icon in your browser toolbar. The analysis panel opens in the sidebar.
  • Dashboard: Paste the article URL or text into the input field and click Analyze.
Rhetoric Audit processes the article through its four-stage forensic pipeline and returns a complete report in 2–5 seconds.
If the article has been analyzed before by any user, the result is served from the platform cache instantly and does not consume one of your credits. Repeated analyses of the same URL are always free.
5

Understand your results

Your forensic report covers 15 diagnostic parameters organized into several categories:
CategoryParameters
Political analysisPhilosophical Frame, Bias Spectrum
Manipulation detectionManipulation Risk Score, Emotional Resonance Triad, Narrative Archetype
Logic analysisFallacy Density Index, Logic Fractures
Evidence & credibilityEvidence Validity Index, Source Reliability, External Claim Grounding
Intent & depthIntent Transparency, Intellectual Depth (DOK), PhD Analytical Deduction
Omission analysisStrategic Silence
Engagement analysisVolatility Correlation, Aristotelian Appeals
Every score traces back to exact quoted passages in the article. Click any parameter in the UI to see the specific text that drove the score. For a full explanation of each parameter, see 15 Parameters.
Rhetoric Audit scores what is structurally present in the text — framing, omissions, emotional load — not whether the conclusion is correct. A high Manipulation Risk Score does not mean the article’s facts are wrong.
