This week focused on billing self-service and account communications: you can now manage and cancel your subscription on your own, and you’ll get email confirmations for the moments that matter (upgrades, renewals, failed payments, invoices). We also shipped a hardened Chrome extension and fixed a handful of login and billing rough edges.

New features

Self-serve subscription management

You can now manage your subscription end-to-end without contacting support:
  • Cancel subscription directly from the dashboard, with reactivation available until the end of your billing period.
  • Stripe customer portal access for updating payment methods, downloading invoices, and reviewing billing history.
  • Automatic renewal is now handled by a scheduled job so your plan stays active without manual intervention.
See Credits & billing for details.

Transactional email system

Rhetoric Audit now sends emails at the key points in your account lifecycle:
  • Welcome email when you create an account.
  • Pro upgrade confirmation when you start a paid plan.
  • Renewal notice before each billing cycle.
  • Invoice email after each successful charge.
  • Payment-failed notice so you can update your card before losing access.
  • Email preferences page so you can opt out of non-essential messages.

Updates

Chrome extension 3.5.2

A security and hygiene release:
  • Removed an unused permission, reducing what the extension can access in your browser.
  • Patched a cross-site scripting vector in the popup.
  • Dependency upgrades behind the scenes for a more reliable scan experience.
Install or update via the Chrome extension guide.

Bug fixes

  • Stripe checkout navigation. The Upgrade and Credit top-up buttons now route to checkout correctly instead of stalling on the dashboard.
  • Blank login page. Fixed three root causes that could leave the login screen blank for users signing in with Google or email.
  • Billing button contrast. The Cancel, Reactivate, and Manage in portal buttons on the Pro card are now legible against the blue background.
  • Display font restored. The Bebas Neue headline font now loads correctly across the site.
